FSR Round 1 Race Wrap Up Feb 24, 2025
The 2025 FSR season kicked off in spectacular fashion, with perfect weather conditions setting the stage for an incredible first round. A mix of excitement, nerves, and anticipation filled the air as drivers took to the track, eager to see the rewards of their preseason testing.
QUALIFYING – A TIGHT BATTLE FROM THE START
The qualifying session was fiercely competitive, with Chris Reindler securing pole position with a blistering 0:55.6532, narrowly edging out Bryce Moore at 0:55.7197.
A worthy mention goes to Masters driver Brad Russell, who put in an impressive 0:55.9054 to qualify in third. The battle from P4 to P7 was just as intense, with all drivers lapping in the 56-second range.
RACE 1 – LIGHTS OUT, AWAY WE GO!
The season's first race delivered an electrifying start. Race-start specialist Jay Wong wasted no time, rocketing from P11 to P8 before the first turn! Mark Cirillo made a strong move from P6 to P4, while Chris Reindler managed to fend off a charging Bryce Moore, who clocked the fastest lap of the race at 0:55.8081—the quickest race lap time of the entire round.
RACE 2 – CLEAN, HARD RACING
Race 2 saw more thrilling, respectful battles. Mark Cirillo pushed the limits with the front runners but, unfortunately, came off second best, dropping to the back of the field. Andrew Eldridge drove a smart and calculated race, holding off a determined midfield pack to secure his highest finish of the weekend in P6.
RACE 3 – A BATTLE FOR ALL
Slight delays pushed back the start of Race 3 due to a previous category competitor dropping oil on the circuit. A huge thank you to the track marshals, who worked swiftly to restore the track to racing standards. With the grid reset, Mark Cirillo faced a tough challenge, starting from the back, but he put on a show battling Michael Tomic in an entertaining contest.
Young rookie Cohen Jackson impressed with mature driving beyond his years, achieving a weekend high of P8. Fellow debutant Tony Mercer also had a strong showing, making a fantastic start in Race 3 and finishing on a high in P10.
But the weekend belonged to Chris Reindler, who completed a flawless sweep, taking three race wins from three starts. A mega performance from Bryce Moore, who finished consistently in P2 across all races, and a special mention to rookie Ruairidh “Rowdy” Avern, who on debut claimed a podium finish in every race to secure P3 for the round!
THANK YOU!
