Macca & Heimgartner Join Arise Racing as National Coaches for 2025 Mar 13, 2025
Arise Racing is thrilled to welcome professional drivers Andre Heimgartner and Macaulay Jones as our National Coaches for the 2025 First Focus Radical Cup Australia season. With a calendar featuring some of Australia’s most iconic tracks; Phillip Island, Sydney Motorsport Park, and Radical Cup’s debut at Sandown, we are excited to have Andre and Macca onboard to guide our drivers to success.
Andre Heimgartner, who joined the Arise Racing coaching team in 2024, proved to be a valuable addition, working closely with our drivers and strengthening our connection with Brad Jones Racing alongside their race mechanics Richard Metcalfe and Joshua Mackie who have been a valuable part of our national mechanical crew. Heimgartners return for 2025 reinforces our commitment to developing driver talent at the highest level.
"I've always enjoyed helping other drivers improve and sharing the knowledge I've gained over the last 23 years," said Heimgartner. "It’s a rewarding and challenging role, and I’m particularly excited to work with a few of the same drivers from last season to see if we can take that next step forward. The goal this year is simple; win the Drivers’ Championship and help all our drivers be as competitive as possible."
Joining Andre in the coaching lineup is Macaulay Jones, a highly respected Supercars driver who brings a fresh perspective and a passion for coaching. Macca is eager to embed himself in the team and track the progression of drivers throughout the season.
"Coaching is a fun way to communicate what we love about race car driving," said Macca. "Helping drivers improve while making it enjoyable is what it's all about. I’m excited to attend more races this year and really follow the progression of our drivers. They’ll be competing at some of the best tracks in Australia, and that’s going to make for an exciting season."
Both coaches bring unique coaching styles to the team. Heimgartner focuses on fundamentals and visual feedback before diving deep into data: "I think it's crucial to get all the basics right—car placement, general driving techniques—before overcomplicating things with too much data analysis. My role is to make sure our drivers improve by focusing on the right aspects at the right time."
Similarly, Macca prefers to keep things simple: "Motorsport can be intense, so I focus on simplifying the approach to make sure drivers aren’t overwhelmed. Small improvements can make a big difference, and I want to help our drivers understand how to approach each outing strategically."
Both coaches agree on one key takeaway: "Control the controllables." Whether it’s refining racecraft, improving consistency, or learning how to extract the most from the Radical SR3, their collective experience will be invaluable in shaping Arise Racing’s 2025 national campaign.
The addition of Heimgartner and Macca to the coaching team solidifies Arise Racing’s commitment to driver development and championship success. With the season fast approaching, we can’t wait to see how our drivers perform under their expert guidance.
