Ruairidh Embarks on Exciting First Season in Radical Cup Australia Mar 18, 2025

A new chapter begins for Ruairidh as he joins Arise Racing for his debut season in the First Focus Radical Cup Australia. Making the leap from karting to high-performance race cars, he’s ready to take on the challenge of some of Australia’s most iconic circuits and prove himself against a competitive field.

"This is a huge moment in my career. Moving from karts to cars is a big step, and to be doing it with a team as strong as Arise Racing is incredible," said Avern. "Their experience and support will be key in my development, and I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible while pushing for strong results."

The leap to Radical Cup Australia presents a fresh challenge for Ruairidh, one that he’s eager to embrace.

"Definitely the chance to race wheel-to-wheel in a high-performance car around the best tracks in Australia," he said. "I’m excited for the challenge ahead. It’s a completely new level for me, so learning how to push the limits of a Radical and adapt to high-speed racing will be a huge and rewarding experience."

The 2025 RCA calendar is one of the most exciting yet, with Arise Racing making its debut at Sandown alongside races at Phillip Island, The Bend, Queensland Raceway, and Sydney Motorsport Park.

"It’s an unreal calendar. Each of these tracks has a unique challenge, whether it’s the high-speed corners at Phillip Island or the technical demands of Sydney Motorsport Park. I’m looking forward to pushing the limits at each one."

As a rookie in the category, Ruairidh has clear goals for his debut season.

"The main goal is to develop as quickly as possible and establish myself as a strong contender. It’s my first season in cars, so I know there will be a learning curve, but I want to be fighting at the front as soon as possible. Consistency, clean racing, and strong results are the targets."

His transition from karting to cars will require a focus on key technical aspects of driving.

"Race car dynamics and tyre management are two key areas. In karting, you can push flat out most of the time, but in cars, managing tyre wear and understanding how to get the best from the setup will be critical. I’m also working on refining my braking technique with downforce, which is very different from what I’m used to."

To be competitive in RCA, Ruairidh knows he will need to master new skills and refine his approach.

"Precision and adaptability. The best drivers in RCA know how to extract the most out of the car in all conditions, and that’s something I need to master. Fitness, technical understanding, and making the right decisions in the heat of battle will all be crucial."

With a competitive grid forming for the 2025 season, Ruairidh is eager to test himself against top-tier competition.

"It’s looking really strong. There are experienced drivers in the field, and a lot of guys who have proven themselves in different categories. That’s a great challenge for me—I want to be racing against the best to accelerate my development." As for rivals, I’m just focused on my own performance, but I know there will be some great battles ahead."

His preparation extends beyond the racetrack, incorporating fitness, simulation training, and analysis of other drivers to stay sharp.

"Fitness is a big part of my routine—strength training, cardio, and I like to use saunas and the beach for recovery. I also spend a lot of time on the sim and watching other racing to learn from others."

As Ruairidh embarks on this next stage of his motorsport career, Arise Racing is proud to support his development and provide him with the tools to succeed. We can't wait to see him hit the track and showcase his talent in the 2025 Radical Cup Australia season!
